GPS Tracker Data Usage Calculator
Estimate a planning range for fleet data use from your reporting pattern and stated allowances.
Built for commercial vehicles, trailers, equipment and fleet/IoT projects β not personal tracking.
Use the estimate as a planning range
The calculation starts with regular moving and parked reports, then adds the entered extra events. For each report it uses three planning bands: payload + 100 bytes, payload + 500 bytes, and payload + 1300 bytes. It applies the entered retry allowance, OTA/debug allowance and a 30-day month, then adds the selected safety buffer to the high band.
Units use decimal conversion: 1 MB = 1,000,000 bytes and 1 GB = 1,000 MB. These are planning assumptions, not measured fleet data or a carrier invoice. Firmware, protocol sessions, keepalives, offline resend, OTA and debug sessions can change the result. Check the range with a representative device, SIM portal and 72-hour pilot.
Start with four decisions
Choose the operating pattern first. Parked behavior stays visible because it can change the SIM plan just as much as the moving interval.

72-hour pilot worksheet
Record expected vs received reports and actual SIM data. This extrapolation is useful only when the 72 hours represent normal activity and network conditions. Separately note weak-signal retries, offline resend, OTA and debug sessions.
This tool gives a planning range, not a promise about traffic, battery life, carrier billing, ROI or a universally best update interval. Use a representative device and SIM portal before selecting a plan.
